Privacy

Can the finder work out who I am?
No. The finder page shows the name you gave the item and any message you wrote, and nothing else. There is no account name, no email, no phone number and no address anywhere on it. If you want the finder to know something, you have to type it yourself.
Do you sell or share any of this?
No. There is no advertising on the site, no third party tracking pixel in the finder flow, and nothing about you or a finder is passed to anyone. The business model is the subscription and the stickers, which is the whole point of charging for it.
What happens to the location a finder shares?
It is stored against that one alert and shown to you as a map link. Location is only ever captured after the finder taps the button and their browser asks them to allow it, and it is sent with the alert rather than in the background.
What do you record when somebody scans?
The time, the code, and a one-way hash of the address and browser the scan came from, which we use to stop one person spamming a code. The hash cannot be turned back into an address.

Using it

Does the finder need an app?
No. Every phone camera made in the last decade reads QR codes and opens the link in the browser. There is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for.
What if their phone will not scan it?
The code is printed underneath the QR along with the web address, so it can be typed in. The characters avoid zero, one, I, L, O and U so there is nothing to misread.
Can I put the same code on several things?
You can, and plenty of people do it for a matched set like a suitcase and its daypack. If you want to know which item was found, give each one its own code.
Can I mark something as lost?
Yes. Set the code to reported missing and the finder page changes to say the owner is waiting to hear, which noticeably increases the number of people who follow through.
Where do the alerts go?
Your account email, always. On top of that you can add other email addresses, a mobile number, or a web address for anything you have wired up at home.

Stickers and printing

Will a sticker survive the dishwasher or the rain?
The ordered vinyl stickers are laminated and rated for outdoor use, so rain, sun and hand washing are fine. Nothing adhesive loves a dishwasher, so for drink bottles we suggest putting the sticker on the base rather than the side.
Do the iron-on labels survive the school laundry?
They are rated for 60 degree washes and tumble drying. Wash the garment inside out for the first few cycles and the label will outlast the jumper.
Can I just print my own?
Yes, and the templates are free. There are layouts measured for Avery L7160, L7651, L7165 and the L7120 round labels, plus an iron-on transfer sheet, swing tags, gear strips and a plain cut-out sheet for ordinary paper.
How long does an order take?
Printed and posted within two business days, free anywhere in Australia. New Zealand takes about a week.

Money

What does it cost?
Two codes are free forever, with no card. Good Sam Plus is $2.99 a month and lifts every limit. Stickers and tags are separate one-off purchases.
What happens if I cancel?
Nothing is deleted. Your 2 oldest codes keep working on the free plan and the rest go quiet until you come back. Alerts already in your account stay there.
Do you do schools, clubs and workplaces?
Yes. If you are labelling a lost property cupboard or a shed full of tools, get in touch and we will sort out bulk sheets and a shared account.
